DISTRICT AWARDS PROGRAM
In 2000, the office established an "employee recognition committee" comprised of officers and support staff representing each functional unit to develop criteria for a district recognition program. The committee's task was first to identify specific types of recognition that would be appropriate, establish criteria for each award, and outline a process for staff to nominate individuals for recognition. The committee's effort resulted in two major award categories as follows:
1. Chief's Award: Given annually to an individual staff member who suggests, improves or implements a procedure or process that promotes or enhances the utilization of resources and/or financially results in cost savings. The award may also be given to an individual staff member who has contributed to the improvement of the quality of life for a group or groups of people in the community and/or for extraordinary community involvement.
2. District Award: Given annually to a staff member who demonstrates "sustained superior performance" over a 12 month period or, to recognize an individual whose performance goes "above and beyond the call of duty."
(Current recipients of these awards may be found in the current edition of the District's Annual Report)
